Taking It Slow on Our Final Day On our last full day in The Gambia, we decided to take things very slowly. After weeks of travel, intense driving days, borders, deserts, and countless impressions, it felt right to enjoy the comfort and calm of our hotel. […]

A Relaxed Morning by the Sea Today was meant to end in celebration: the legendary farewell party of this year’s Dresden–Dakar–Banjul Rally. Until then, however, we took things slowly. After a relaxed breakfast, we walked along the beach toward a small green area known locally as […]
An Early Start for a Big Day Today started earlier again. At 9:00 a.m., all rally participants were scheduled to meet, as the convoy would head to the Independence Stadium in Bakau (Banjul, Gambia), where the grand vehicle auction would take place. After an early breakfast, […]

A Calm Start Before an Important Day Today started at a much gentler pace. We didn’t need to set an alarm, as the meeting for the project visits was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. That allowed us to sleep a little longer and enjoy a relaxed morning. […]

A Restless Night and an Early Morning Sleep didn’t come easy last night. It was loud — far louder than expected. Around seven in the morning, the housekeeping staff were already arguing loudly in the inner courtyard, and a cat made sure everyone knew it was […]

An Early Start Before Sunrise Just after 5:00 a.m., the alarm went off. There was little time to hesitate — we packed the car quickly, skipped proper morning hygiene, and breakfast had to wait. At 6:00 a.m., all rally teams met between the hotels in Saint‑Louis. […]

Morning Routine in the Sand The day began once again with our familiar desert routine: a simple breakfast, a beautiful sunrise, and the daily challenge of shaking sand out of everything. The broom has become our most valuable tool. After packing the tent and reorganising the […]
A Warmer Night, but Still Comfortable After another night in the tent, we woke up to slightly warmer temperatures than the night before — but overall, the Sahara continues to surprise us with moderate weather. Many say this might be one of the coolest rally editions […]

A Windy Morning and Breakfast in the Sand After our first night in the desert, we woke up still getting used to the idea of camping in the Sahara. Sand is everywhere — in the tent, in our bags, in the car — and the constant […]

A Short Night in Our “Luxury Hotel” After a rather restless night in what we jokingly called our new “luxury hotel,” we got back on the road. The room had been extremely basic — dripping taps, flaking paint, questionable cleanliness — but it served its purpose […]
A Slow Morning and a Mandatory Briefing The day began once again with breakfast — simple, served on a tray, but exactly what we needed to ease into the morning. Today we didn’t have to rush, as the mandatory rally briefing in Dakhla was scheduled for […]

A Short Night and an Early Start The night was shorter than expected. At 04:20 a.m., the call to prayer from the nearby mosque echoed through the village and woke us up — something completely normal in this part of the world, but still unfamiliar when […]
