Last weekend, we used the time to mount the last spiked tires on the roof. Due to the expected winter conditions in Scandinavia, we plan to switch all tires to spiked tires during the tour. In Scandinavia and the Baltic countries, driving with spiked tires is allowed, and the traction and grip with these tires are simply much better. For emergencies, we also have snow socks for the front tires. We transport the additional four tires on the roof, for which there is a good fastening system for our roof rack. Finally, we measured the height of the Land Rover with the tires to ensure we know the total height we are traveling with. The great thing about the Discovery is the ability to adjust its height, so we can lower the normal driving height by 6 cm or raise it by 10 cm.
On Sunday, our “logistics manager” Winnie test-packed and secured all our equipment and planned luggage. For a 16-day rally, there’s quite a lot to bring along. From tools and technical equipment to camera gear and winter clothing, everything needs to be properly and, most importantly, safely stowed. We are very satisfied with the result and believe that we have managed to pack everything well and securely.
